artist statement

born with single sided deafness, i’ve learned to rely on expression over words as a means of communication and understanding. faces have always filled the blank gaps in sentences, an oasis in the abstract landscape of shadowy sounds and heartbreaking imperception.

my work is a representation of the secret world I’ve created — a black and white haven exposing distinct inner dialogues, whispering stories about our complicated/lovely/lonely/beautiful human experience — without word or sound.
